Liquid Ice Line Roller grease
This is a very specialized lubricant with properties that are absolutely perfect for application in the line roller of an Ultralight spinning reel:
- Synthetic
- Waterproof and water-repellent. (stable even in salt water)
- Rust inhibitor
- Low friction/ low resistance in high-speed applications (much better than the line roller grease Shimano sells, therefore more suitable for ultralight gear)
- High temperature range (-30F to 380F) (can use even in Canada)
- Does not separate or gunk-up (like Shimano's DG-1 grease does)
- NON TOXIC (made of non toxic synthetic base oils, not harmful to fish or wildlife)
Use this grease to increase the longevity of your line roller or to remove line roller noise coming from bearing rust, algae, dust or wear. It cannot fix physically damaged line rollers. Strongly recommended for aftermarket replacement bearings, because the aftermarket bearings are usually going in a line roller designed for a plastic bushing and not sealed very well.
Because of the very low resistance, this is the only grease that I would recommend for use on the main shaft. Use very little in the upper section that is rubbing against the rotor for a buttery feel. Do not leave excess grease there, or it will bunch up under the spool.
Not Recommended for use in brand new high-end reels. Even if the resistance is low, it will still add some resistance, so do not add in new reels where the roller is working perfectly quiet. However with age all of those line-rollers will get infiltrated by algae and develop noise. Both of my brand new 2025 Luvias reels developed noise after 1 month of use and i lubricated them with this. If you don't want to open and clean all the time, just lubricate with this.
Not Recommended for drag grease (it will increase surging). Also not recommended for gear grease. Gear grease requires different properties and there is plenty of good products on the market.
Altogether the properties of this grease make it not only a good line roller grease in general, but particularly good for Ultralight reels, where it is important to retain performance. And the non toxic base will not make u feel guilty when some grease goes on the fishing line and then in the water.
